UV Absorbers
UV Absorber UV-234
2-(2H-Benzotriazol-2-yl)-4,6-bis(1-methyl-1-phenylethyl)phenol
Low volatility and high-heat stability — the benzotriazole of choice for engineering plastics and fibers.
Product Description
UV-234 is a high-molecular-weight benzotriazole UV absorber. Its dual α-cumyl substituents deliver strong 300–400 nm absorption with extremely low volatility and excellent heat-migration resistance, surviving processing temperatures close to 300 °C in PC and PBT.
UV-234 is compatible with most polymers and especially suited to thin articles with high surface-to-volume ratio such as films and fibers — no blooming from migration or precipitation. In polycarbonate it suppresses yellowing and light-transmission loss; in polyester and polyurethane fibers it protects strength and color fastness.
Typical loadings are 0.15–0.5 wt%. Aolong UV-234 is ≥99.0% assay and pairs with HALS such as UV-944 and UV-119 to build complete weathering systems for engineering plastics.
