Photoinitiator KIP 160

2-Hydroxy-1-[4-[4-(2-hydroxy-2-methylpropanoyl)benzyl]phenyl]-2-methylpropan-1-one

Dimeric α-hydroxy ketone — Type I performance with minimal migration and odor.

Product Description

KIP 160 is a bis-acylphosphine-free, dimeric α-hydroxy ketone: two 1173-type chromophores joined through a methylene bridge. The doubled molecular weight cuts volatility, odor and migration dramatically while preserving the fast cure typical of α-hydroxy ketones.

It is a preferred Type I initiator for food-packaging inks and low-odor coatings, and its two chromophores raise efficiency so that typical loadings drop to 1–3 wt%.

Key Features

  • Dimeric structure minimizes migration and odor
