Flame Retardants
9,10-Dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide
The leading reactive phosphorus intermediate for halogen-free epoxy and electronics.
DOPO is a bicyclic phosphorus heterocycle that reacts into polymer chains through its P–H bond rather than remaining as an additive. This reactive incorporation is its decisive advantage: the flame retardant element becomes part of the molecular structure, eliminating migration, blooming and plasticization while maximizing hydrolytic stability.
Its primary application is halogen-free epoxy resins for copper-clad laminates (CCL) in printed circuit boards. DOPO-modified epoxy novolacs achieve UL 94 V-0 ratings at phosphorus contents of just 2–3%, while preserving glass transition temperatures and electrical performance that additive FRs would destroy.
Aolong DOPO is synthesized to ≥99.0% purity (titration + HPLC) with white flake appearance and controlled hydrolyzable chlorine, ensuring clean reactivity in high-value electronics resin systems.
