Photoinitiators
Photoinitiator EDB
Ethyl 4-(dimethylamino)benzoate
The proven amine synergist that unlocks full cure speed of ITX and benzophenone systems.
Product Description
EDB is a tertiary amine synergist that donates hydrogen to excited Type II photoinitiators such as ITX and benzophenone, converting their absorbed UV energy into initiating radicals. Without an amine synergist, these systems cure slowly; with EDB, surface cure in dark inks reaches commercial line speeds.
Beyond Type II chemistry, small amounts of EDB also counteract oxygen inhibition in Type I systems, improving surface drying of clear coats. Typical ratios are 1 : 0.5 to 1 : 1 with ITX at combined loadings of 1–4 wt%.
Aolong EDB is vacuum-distilled to ≥99.0% purity with very low color, preventing yellowing drift in white and light-tone inks over storage.
