Liquid NOR-type low-basicity HALS — the first choice for acid-catalyzed coating systems.
UV-123 converts the UV-770 skeleton to a NOR-type (alkoxyamine) structure by alkylating the nitrogen, giving extremely low basicity. It coexists with acid-catalyzed melamine systems, acidic pigments, flame retardants and sulfur residues without deactivation — solving the classic compatibility problem of conventional HALS.
As a clear pale-yellow liquid, UV-123 shows excellent miscibility with common paint solvents such as xylene and MEK (>50 g/100 g), pumps and meters easily, and can be emulsified into waterborne systems — the liquid HALS of choice for automotive refinish, coil/industrial coatings and wood finishes.
Typical dosage is 0.5–2% on resin solids, combined with 1–3% of liquid UV absorbers such as UV-384/UV-1130 for a complete weathering package; it is also used in PP, PU and ABS plastics.
