Flame Retardant MPP

Melamine Polyphosphate

The halogen-free P-N FR engineered for glass-filled polyamide electrical parts.

Product Description

Melamine polyphosphate (MPP) combines a phosphorus acid source with a nitrogen blowing source in one polymeric molecule, providing built-in P-N synergy. In glass-filled polyamide 6 and 66, MPP promotes dense char formation in the condensed phase while nitrogen dilutes the flame gases.

MPP's decisive advantage in electrical applications is its non-conducting, non-corrosive action: unlike halogen systems, it leaves no ionic residues that raise leakage currents on connector surfaces, and it does not corrode molds or contacts. Glass-filled PA66 with 25–30% MPP reaches UL 94 V-0 at 0.8–1.6 mm while retaining useful impact strength.

Aolong MPP is produced with controlled particle size (D50 ≈ 3–5 μm) and thermal stability to 350 °C, surviving polyamide compounding without degradation.
